At Wockhardt Hospitals, the department of Interventional Radiology offers a wide range of advanced interventional radiology services.
Interventional Radiology is a medical sub-specialty, which utilizes minimally-invasive image-guided techniques to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system.
Interventional radiologists are specially trained in the use of X-rays, fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). They can hence safely perform procedures such as biopsies, angioplasty, stop bleeding (embolization), and cancer treatment.
Most of these procedures are performed via a small pinhole in the body and by using small instruments including needles, wires, and catheters, interventional radiologists can reach virtually every organ or vessel in the body.
The advantages of Interventional Radiology procedures are:
- They are performed on an OPD basis or with a short hospital stay.
- Most procedures performed under local anesthesia
- Less or no pain
- No scar or stitch, performed through a pinhole
- Fewer complications
- Faster recovery
Many conditions that once required treatment using traditional, open surgery can now be managed with interventional radiology.
Procedures performed in our departments include:
- Vascular Interventions :
- Arterial Interventions :
- Peripheral angioplasty, stenting, atherectomies.
- Diabetic foot management
